Ghanaian Highlife mix
I like to turn my singles, downloads and the occasional album track into compilation cd's. (yes, i know, that is getting old-fashioned). Even though this is a completely random process, after a while the songs become connected and their combination starts to fit together. This is one of my favorites at the moment, so i thought you might appreciate it also.

Dear Akwaboa, thank you for this and for all the sweet tunes you already posted in the past. I'm faithfully wishing for more great ghanaian highlife to be "spreaded" blogwise, I'm at a point where this music is like vitamin to me, so inspirational... I'm sometimes wondering if the quality of my work depends on the quality of the music I listen to. However, keep on posting the tunes please and perhaps I should message you about exchanging great music on a fair basis.

You do realize that the artists you "love" so much get no compensation when people publish their own compilations without proper licensing of the tracks? Or do you own the rights to these songs?
Highlife artists need to band together and protect their legacy and prevent piracy. Otherwise they will end up dying penniless like so many of the great blues artists in America have.
Buy music from living artists and support live performance.DJ's need to get a life and stop taking creative credit for stringing together a playlist.

Glad you bring this matter to our attention.
Of course i feel bad for the artists who live in poverty. But actually, i can't help that. I welcome and buy every re-release just to support them, and have used my blog to advertise them. Of course i would never post anything that is commercially available, just for this reason. And by posting just tracks, i don't crowd out re-releases.
If anything, posting this music keeps their legacy alive and promotes re-issues.
By the way, i've just given a couple of copies 'back' to such an artists for re-release....
And to every artist his own audience. But don't deny me my musical preferences and to spread a bit of it around. And of course all the credit for this music goes to the artists, not to me.
I support the mixes. (And I recognize John Doe's concern).

Putting together a playlist is a creative act, of a different nature than writing a song, but still a creative act. Seeing compatibility in different pieces of art and reuniting them together requires knowledge, sensibility, and taste.

Just to call your attention to track #21 "Wohahee."
If I am not mistakened, I think that song was by "OGYATANAA" and not "Uhuru."
I stand corrected if I am wrong. Thanks.
